Weekend of fun!

Hey Putt Putters,

Well it's Monday and I'm feeling that nice burn you get when you've been riding your heart out all weekend. It all started in Britania Beach Saturday morning, we met at the Galileo Coffee house in Britania at 10:30am. On Site we had Sean Dickson, Trevor Porter, Andrew Deboer, Simon Lidner and Spencer Fitschen. The plan was to ride up to the Cabin via 401 the Glens hitting Goat View down Danalle via Handle bar heights up to the Happy Shack. Fantastic sunny day playing along the way. We stopped at the cabin for a snack got the chainsaw(Spencer lugged it on his back) in order and headed up the goat trial. Some big fallen trees were cut out of the way and we proceeded. The crew feeling the burn of the constant climbing all day long. Especially Simon after trying to follow me up this small detour, wrong way, dead end trail, up the goat which was to say at the very least a trek up very steep and exposed terrain, something only a goat would feel comfortable on. After a look at the GPS realizing where we were proceeded back down to find the rest of the crew waiting and wondering where we had gotten to. We then continued up the proper Goat trail and got about half way up until we decided to turn back. Some of the trials soldiers were pretty much spent and I was running low on gas. So we headed back down losing Trevor once and I again missed a turn had to wait for rescue from Andrew. All in all it was a fantastic ride, I would like to thank the Crew of Andrew Debeor, Gerry Shuttleworth and Cory for cutting new lines through and around the logged area on one of the main trials leading up to the cabin. Sounds like they worked from 11am to 8:30pm last Sat.

Well that was it for Britania, it was off to go Camping with my sweetheart Krista in Paradise Valley on the Cheakamus River. Set up Camp right next to the river, got a fire going, cooked up some yummy eats downed some yummy brew and hit the sack in my awesome Rooftop tent.(rooftents.ca)or (hightractionsports.com) Just flip it open and your good to go. Just park on level ground or you can take it off of the vehicle and place where you want. Where in this case we placed it right next to the river. The sound of the rushing river has got to be one of the most relaxing sounds to sleep to. Love it! Morning came and the sun was shining again, finally dragged ourselves out of the comfy sleeping quarters around 10:30. Proceeded to get the coffee going and realized we had left the bodum on the kitchen counter at home, so it's Mcgiver time, just boil water in a pot, once boiling mix in your desired amount of fresh Galileo coffee. Take your cup of choice, place one blue disposable shop towel in the cup in a bowl shape and pour your coffee in. The shop towel filters the grains, remove and your good to go, mmm coffee by the river. Next up veggie omelettes and yummy cherries. Well we got packed up around 1pm and headed home. Krista got her downhill bike and gear together and headed to Whistler to rip with some friends in the bike park. I loaded up the trials bike again and headed for Conroy Creek for a much awaited opening of Cory and Jean's new trail Beaver Pelt. In attendance on this Sunday Sunday Sunday was Tim Tallevi, Andrew Debeor, Sean "throttle" Dickson, Cory and Jean. The Trail was amazing! Nice use of the terrain, riding along rock spines jumping over crevasses up some cool chutes, sweet views of the Tantalus Glacier along the way. Overall the trial is nice and trialsy/techy but not annoying, has great flow and some fun line choices depending on the panties you might or might not be wearing that day.lol had to say it! Well we completed Beaver Pelt and continued on to ride Trial and Error built by Andrew Deboer. Cory and Jean being as dedicated as they are headed back into Beaver Pelt to do some more exploring and some polishing up on their new trail. Andrew had built a huge splatter/jump that Sean and I hit a few times. Sean hit it first even though I won the Rock Paper Scissors contest but then sally-ed on my first attempt. Sean hit it with success which gave me the confidence. I hit it in 3rd and 4 rth. Love that Gasser 4 rth gear. At the end of the day Sean, Tim and I rode Sean's trail Sally up to the summit above the parking lot. Steep steep and more steep. Good times. Love those great weekends of riding and the outdoors.
So long for now!!
P.S. If your interested in seeing the GPS lines we rode this past weekend in Britania and Conroy along with photo way points. Send me an email to rick@hightractionsports.com and I'll send you the file. All you need is google earth on your computer. You can view the pictures of the waypoints and overlay the trail onto google earth. I'll include a couple images to give you an idea, these are just images they won't work on google earth, no zooming in and such.

thanks for reading and keep funning! remember fun is money and this weekend was.... priceless

High Traction Trial in Brittania Beach May 16

Hello hello hello,

Well it's that time again, trial in Squamish, oops I mean Brittania that's right it's been moved to Brittania this year and it's a little earlier this time, hope for no rain.
This trial is getting a reputation for big walls and cool sections, some might even say "it's gnarly dude", Spencer Fitschen has been out for the last month or more, actually he's been working on this thing since last year, I know because was with him a few times last year when we cleared areas for a "trial one day" he said. Sure enough it's happening in Brittania. Very exciting!! Brittania is one of the original trials areas built over 20 years ago by different hardcore trials dudes such as: Andrew Dean, Andrew James, Spencer F. Glen Woloski, Mike Boothroid, I think a guy named Rick Ward and Mark Dendecker the legend himself, known to be one of the best in this area! Wish he would come out and ride. Maybe he's riding underground Chin style who knows.

There are two loops; 10 sections for the Beginners and Juniors, and 17 sections on a
longer loop for all other classes; there are even a few Champ lines.

Directions are as follows: North up Hwy 99 to Britannia Beach, turn right off the hwy at
Britannia (there is only one light) follow that road (Copper Drive) up to the top of the
hill past the trailer park then turn left when you come to Goat Ridge Dr. Follow to the
top and you will find us there. The whole drive from the highway is 3-4 minutes, please
be mindful of the posted speed limit (30 KMH), and if anyone needs provisions, there is
a well stocked store at the foot of the hill on the highway (including all types of
tasty beverages), and a great little fish and chip shop as well. Mtn Women it's called.

Should be some cool prizes for all categories.

So whether your riding in the comp or just out for a hike or casual ride to watch some sweet riding come on out and bring your camera, most sections are in the forest so prepare for low light. Some nice view points of Brittania Village and the ocean down below as well. Some key spots to check:
between section 6 and 7 amazing view point called stone rock, huge wall called awesome rock on section 9 and nice view as well between 14 and 15. To see awesome rock copy and paste this link www.vimeo.com/11390979

Hope to see you there.

Well it's Monday night, just heading to bed, thought i would post a little note, got out with Spencer today, took a ride in Brittania to check the loop for the HighTraction Trial and found some amazing areas for sections. should be fun, that Trial is in Brittania may 16, parking at the cauldasack on copper drive, more details later. On another note, I was out riding yesterday with some friends, tried to get up a fairly simple little 3 step next to 20 foot cliff, didn't make it, lost my footing and fell all the way down, luckily I wasn't too badly injured just a big slash in my arm and bruising and swelling, could have been much worse, got lucky. just wanted to say, be careful out there, look before your leap. here's i vid of me hitting a big splatter with a little step afterwards, thanks to geoff aaron showing me the way. andrew d's footage.

later.

Geoff Aaron riding GasGas Trials at Ioco,

Hey Putters!

Here's a nice little Video of Geoff Aaron hitting some big walls at Ioco.(fyi he's 6'4" and he's up off the ground about a foot on the bike you do the math) Very cool.
More to come, let me know if you have any special request's for video you might want to see, I've got lots. On this segment notice he touches no feet to the ground that would have been a clean! lol

Hey there! Well it's been a while since I posted a blog, actually Sept. 1st 09 I think. I moved back to Squamish mid last summer from Naramata. I have been quite busy with moving and getting re-organized. Squamish and the Sea to Sky Corridor is the place to be for Trials, MTB and snow action. Never mind the lakes and beaches. So I've got lots of photos and video to get going for the new putt putt 2 teaser. I will be posting some highlights here on Fresh Dirt so drop by often. If you have questions about trails in the Sea to Sky Corridor feel free to contact us. There are all levels of riding here as well, so don't be shy come and ride.

Here's a little clip from yesterdays ride in Brittania on a Trail called Reach Around off of Energizer Bunny. It's a splatter over a gap you don't want to fall into. (Cory D. I assume you built this) Just a little something to get you going.
more to come....e.g. footage of Geoff Aaron and Wilson Craig in Conroy creek south of Whistler last Sunday, Trial in yankee flats in Vernon, Geoff's trials clinic and more.

Ride On!

In attendance was Tim T., Trevor P., Andrew D. and myself. Good times on the endless rock and beautiful views of Conroy. Trevor who comes from a background of downhill racing and enduro was feeling very at home after about 10 or so rides on the trials action.
